ASK AMELIE!
Mental Health Blog

Welcome!

One of the many wonderful things about my work is that I have heard countless times from the individuals I treat that when they’ve had things happen, they make a mental note to “ask Amelie”. One person told me they “bank up questions” to ask by the time we have our session! I’m not saying that therapy is all about them asking and me answering (though it often happens that way!), but I am taking to this Blog to address key issues that have been raised by those with very inquisitive minds throughout my years in Clinical Psychology.

There is nothing in this blog that I have not thought of, experienced, believed in, or practiced myself. The content is well informed, be it through lived experience, or what I have seen with my own eyes – “based on true events” if you like. I completely believe in what I do. I believe fully that the right therapy with the right therapist can change your entire life, for the better.

If you are reading my blogs and feel that I may be able to help you, please reach out – I would love to hear from you!

However, excessive and compulsive social media use is a grave concern.

Audio Version

I have come across expressions like “He/She’s so borderline” and I honestly think to myself, wow, that’s actually really mean and totally unacceptable. I question whether those making the statements really know what they’re saying and what kind of impact this would have on the person they’re speaking about.

If You’re Unhappy and You Know It – Can one have it all?

Audio Version

There is SO much out there in the world on how to find love and happiness – for some, they’re interchangeable! There are books, songs, simple-(or difficult!)-to-follow steps, online advice, forums, animations, movies, documentaries… I don’t think I have enough space to list them all, but I’m sure you get my point!
